In the beginning, Dane was the recording engineer, having access to the Oliver Powers Memorial Audio Suite at the OU J-school. Dane was an engineer at Irving Productions in Tulsa for eight years, and during that time lots of Neon Salamander stuff was recorded there. These days Dane and Billy both record on ProTools in their home studios. Dane is still the audio authority, banging texts on the subject over Billy's head from time to time. However, Billy is the computer and general technology guru, if that makes any sense, and he's also the music expert.

Whereas Billy lives on a steady diet of happy, three-chord (major) songs, Dane is more at ease with lots of minor chords.
